School to Work Program
Ages 18 through 21
The Project SEARCH Collaborative is a business-led partnership which offers a unique, school-to-work program for students with disabilities who are in their last year of high school. The program is provided by Beechwood Continuing Care in conjunction with Erie 1 BOCES, Aspire of WNY and The Summit Center.
Project SEARCH is an international program with more than 300 locations around the globe. The programs' goal is to help students with disabilities gain competitive employment, and increase employability skills and independence at a work site.
Eligibility
- Ages 18 to 21
- Eligible for ACCES-VR and OPWDD services
- Completion of all academic requirements for graduation
- One year placement
A Day in the Life
- Interns will attend classes at Beechwood Continuing Care securing daily life skills.
- Interns participate in unpaid job rotations throughout Beechwood Continuing Care including Health Information, Management Operations, Environmental Services, Dining Services and Admissions.
- Aspire of WNY and The Summit Center provide job coaching until the task can be performed independently.
