Business and Industry Partners

Erie 1 BOCES has established an Advisory Council for each of its secondary Career and Technical Education programs in conjunction with its Workforce Development programs. Each Council is made up of individuals from business, industry, and college with experience and expertise in the program areas they serve. The group meets regularly to strengthen the connection between classroom theory and the world of work. Members provide consultation on many aspects of the program including curriculum, relevancy of training and equipment, and recruitment. Many members assist in placing students in jobs or on internship sites and some serve as guest speakers in the classroom. Their input guides program decision making, long-range planning, curriculum, and its members assist in assessing the practical portion of the NOCTI examination.
