Electrical Systems

2 Year Program
Harkness, Kenton, Potter

Students will learn the theory and fundamentals of electrical systems and apply it to hands-on projects. Topics of study include: electrical safety, basics of hand and power tools, specialized tools and equipment, wiring methods, calculations and measuring, electrical circuits and troubleshooting methods, industrial motor controls, and residential and blue print reading. Students will explore renewable technologies and energy sources, control systems, and business and industry principles like financial literacy. Students will earn their OSHA 10 Safety Certification.

Program Highlights

This program focuses on the importance of safety, theory,
and application of all facets of the electrical industry.
Students have the opportunity to complete a 30-hour
internship with electrician in the field.
Students will learn the codes associated with the electrical
industry.
Solar and wind technology is an emphasis of this program.

Classroom Information

Large class size (28+)
Safety Standards are rigorous (OSHA compliance mandated)
Physically demanding
Lab activities can be very loud
Lab is very large and spread out
Students will be required to work outside in all weather conditions
Students are required to work independently and collaboratively in groups
