Auto Technician Training

2 Year Program

Students will learn the skills necessary to troubleshoot and repair today’s modern vehicles. Topics of study include: engine performance, tire repair/replacement, alignment, fuel systems, wiring and electrical systems, power trains and transmissions, brake repair and replacement, steering and suspension. Students will diagnose, troubleshoot, and perform preventative maintenance on foreign/domestic cars and light trucks by using the latest techniques and computerized diagnostic equipment.

Prepare to enter the auto field in a dealership, repair shop, parts facility, and more.
Operate master level technician equipment to diagnose problems.
Troubleshoot and repair today’s modern vehicles
Experience real-world, web-based manufacturer services
information.

Students are eligible to earn the iCAR Certification.

Students must supply work pants, coveralls, and
work boots

Classroom Information

Large class size (28+)
Auto Shop tools and activities can be very loud
Auto Shop is large and spread out
Will be working with hadardous materials (gasoline, etc...)
Strict safety standards
Need to wear appropriate clothing and shoes to participate in shop activities

Program Considerations

Fine motor skills and hand tool use
Able to work well in groups and individually
Physical strength to lift up to 30+ lbs.
Strong technical reading skills
Strong math skills
