In this session, participants will be immersed in learning all about the features and philosophy behind this learning platform. Participants will learn how to provide all students an opportunity and voice in the learning process by leveraging THiNKtech's tools for increased student engagement. This session will focus on ways teachers can use the tools to build or convert any lesson, for any subject, at any grade level. THiNKtech provides real-time data to drive instruction, promote critical thinking and increase engagement, allowing teachers to create an overall high quality learning experience. |
Cardboard Arcade Challenge | Melanie Kitchen, Sean Christopher | 8/1/24, 8/6/24, 8/7/24 | Educators will embark on a journey that combines elements of design thinking, hands-on creation, and technology integration to craft a cardboard arcade game. By the end of this immersive workshop, educators will emerge with a toolkit of strategies, technologies, and creative approaches to use with their students and participate in an optional cardboard arcade challenge in January with students from across Western New York. Day 1: Exploring Creativity and Design Thinking - Understanding the design thinking process - Ideation techniques for educational projects - Prototyping with cardboard: Building game structures, switches, and attachments. Day 2: Integrating Technology for Enhanced Learning Experiences - Introduction to MakeyMakeys, Hummingbird Kits, and Microbits - Hands-on sessions to integrate chosen technologies into cardboard game designs - Strategies for scaffolding technology integration in the classroom. Day 3: Building, Presenting, and Playing - Finalizing cardboard game designs - Rehearsing presentations and refining gameplay mechanics - Showcasing games and engaging in playtesting sessions. |
