Erie 1 BOCES Wins Community Impact Award
Erie 1 BOCES is honored to receive the 2023 Community Impact Award from the Cheektowaga Chamber of Commerce November 2. Erie 1 BOCES was among eight Community Excellence Award recipients, as nominated by the community.
Anedda Trautman, Erie 1 BOCES Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services, accepted the award on behalf of the organization.
“We remain committed to our students, staff and districts by continuing to provide state-of-the-art innovative programming to the students of our 19 component districts in Erie County,” Trautman said. “Cheektowaga is a large part of our Erie 1 BOCES footprint and we are grateful for the continued support of the town.”
In August, Erie 1 BOCES opened its Career and Technical Education Center at Calspan Business Park, the first school built within a business park in New York State. More than 200 students from across Erie County are studying Digital Media, Video Production/Recording Arts and Website/Game Design.
This month, Erie 1 BOCES will open a new 6,800-square-foot facility across the street from its Workforce Development North Campus on Walden Avenue. The South Campus will house skilled trades programs, including trades and manufacturing.
Also in Cheektowaga are Erie 1 BOCES’ Harkness CTE Center on Aero Drive, which completed a three-year capital improvement project, Maryvale Academy and EDGE Academy.
Sharing the Community Impact Award with Erie 1 BOCES was Greenlight Networks. Other awardees were Maryvale School District Superintendent Joseph D’Angelo, Citizen of the Year; Airport Plaza Jewelers, Small Business of the Year; Signature Aviation, Large Business of the Year; NOCO, Innovation; Paint of WNY, Customer Service Excellence; and Floor & Décor, Shovel Award.
