Hamburg Senior Cooks Up Success in Culinary Arts Program
Hamburg Central School District senior Will Maclin has found that a combination of enthusiasm and dedication is a recipe for success while studying in the Culinary Arts program at the Potter Career and Technical Education (CTE) Center.
“This program has given me an advantage by teaching me basic culinary skills so I can transition into more complex things in college,” Will said.
Instructor Lauren Sikora said she was impressed by Will’s commitment to his work.
“Will comes to class enthusiastic and ready to work each day,” Sikora said. “He is passionate about culinary.”
Will said he joined the Culinary Arts program to pursue his love for cooking, and the program has given him a strong foundation for the future. The program teaches students the fundamentals of safety and sanitation, equipment operation, and how to prepare short order and large quantity cooking meals.
“I have a passion for cooking,” he explained. “After graduation, I plan to attend the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute and eventually the Culinary Institute of America.”
