Continuing the Cosmetology Legacy for Depew Senior
Savana Nowak, a dedicated student from Depew High School, is making waves and preparing for her future while studying in the Cosmetology program at the Potter Career and Technical Education (CTE) Center.
“This program has allowed me to practice my technical skills and build my professional character,” Savana said.
Instructor Lisa Vater praised Savana’s commitment to her education at Erie 1 BOCES. The program helps students learn the communication and technical skills to find success in a salon work environment, teaching product knowledge, proper application and technical procedures to enhance the personal care of hair, nails, and skin.
“Savana is an excellent student with exemplary passion and skills in this field,” Vater said. Savana said she was inspired to enter the program because of her mother’s successful career in the industry. She added that she hoped to follow in her mother’s footsteps and eventually take over her mother’s salon business.
“I plan to take my state exam and get my license so I can start working alongside my mother,” she said.
With her determination and the support of her instructors, Savana is well on her way to a promising future in the cosmetology industry.
