West Seneca Senior Shines in Early Childhood Education Program
West Seneca Central School District senior Allison Kowalec is thriving in the Early Childhood Education program at the Potter Career and Technical Education (CTE) Center.
Allison, who attends West Seneca West High School, credited the program with helping her prepare for her future goals of attending college and becoming a classroom teacher.
“This program gave me so many opportunities I wouldn’t have had otherwise,” she said. “It’s been a great advantage for reaching my goals.”
Allison initially joined the program to explore her interest in the teaching profession.
“I had heard good things about the program and wanted to see if teaching was the right path for me,” she said.
In the class, students examine the physical, social/emotional, and intellectual development of children and gain experience through internships at local preschools, childcare centers, and elementary schools. Her hard work, leadership, and positive attitude have made her stand out among her peers, according to instructor Jaime Lubs.
“Allison excels in Early Childhood Education,” Lubs said. “She has a positive attitude with a contagious smile and is a leader who supports her team and helps whenever needed. She completes her assignments and projects with pride, and her attention to detail is impeccable. Allison holds herself to a higher standard, and it shows in her success within the program.”
