Creative Summer at Calspan
Summer West is a senior from Clarence High School and is enrolled in the Digital Media program at Erie 1 BOCES Career and Technical Education Center at Calspan Business Park.
“I enrolled in BOCES because I enjoy digital drawing, producing and creating,” said Summer. “My mom had also gone to Harkness when she was young, and she said she learned a lot from going. I thought this would be a new experience and a different setting from my high school.”
In the fall of 2024, following graduation, Summer plans on applying to Daemen University, perhaps for animation. Digital Media students create amazing graphics, stunning video and eye-popping animation alongside industry professionals.
“Summer is a reliable and dependable producer who has a keen eye for design,” said her teacher, Jason Bieger. “She works very well independently, as well as on a team. She has a unique voice and sense of humor that often shines through in her work.”
“This program has helped me reach my goals by teaching me new software and programs I can use to help better my performance and production,” said Summer. “I learned so many things in this program that I can utilize to my advantage in the work field. Overall, this course has been very helpful, especially with all of the advanced quipment the school provides us with!”
