New Visions Legal Academy Alumni Spotlight: Haley Muehlbauer
Haley Muehlbauer, a 2017 Williamsville South High School graduate, is making her mark in the legal field as a criminal defense attorney at Lipsitz Green Scime Cambria, a prominent law firm in Buffalo, NY. Her journey to this career began with the Erie 1 BOCES New Visions Legal Academy, a program that she credits with giving her a significant edge in her professional journey.
“The program helped prepare me for the legal field because of the networking and internships on my resume,” Muehlbauer shared. “It helped put me above other students who maybe had a higher GPA or knew someone I didn’t. I had all these internships on my resume, and it helped me market myself better.”
After completing the Legal Academy, Muehlbauer pursued her passion for law by earning her Juris Doctor degree from the University at Buffalo Law School. Today, she uses her expertise to advocate for clients and uphold justice in the courtroom.
Reflecting on her experience in the program, Muehlbauer highlights its versatility and value for students interested in exploring the legal profession. “It is a great program. You meet so many great people and really figure out the ins and outs of the legal profession—from a lawyer’s standpoint or a federal agent’s standpoint. There are so many different avenues; you don’t have to just go to law school.”
New Visions program enrollment is open for the 2025 - 2026 school year.
