Traveling Tech Impresses Teens
Photo of two male students interacting with technologyphoto of two male students interacting with technologyIt is unusual to see school personnel welcoming colorful semi-trucks to park in front of their buildings. However, this truck was an exception.

Full Sail University brought their interactive mobile experience to Western New York high school students at Erie 1 BOCES Harkness Career & Technical Center. The mobile experience allowed students to interact with concert lighting, live TV, 2D and 3D animation, and music engineering stations. The BOCES high school programs that participated in the experience included: TV & Sound Production, Digital Media, and Electronics & Computer Technology.

Students were able to see how the skills that they are learning within their Erie 1 BOCES programs could help them be successful in a college program. Of Erie 1 BOCES Career and Technical Education Programs, 65 percent of graduates move on to college. This experience provided exposure to additional educational opportunities in these fields of study.

The mobile experience was equipped with devices very similar to what industry professionals use. Students were encouraged to test out the equipment and see what they could create. Joseph Mattimore, Harkness Digital Media instructor and a Full Sail alum, was also able to shed light on his experience at the university.

Located in Winter Park, Florida, Full Sail University offers associate, bachelor's, and master's degrees designed for the world of entertainment, media, arts, and technology.
