NYS Virtual Academy Art Show: A Celebration of Student Creativity
The NYS Virtual Academy Art Show is a collaboration and celebration of student talent across New York State's virtual schools. This innovative event brings together students, families, and educators from several virtual learning programs including Erie 1 BOCES eAcademy, Capital Region BOCES, Broome Tioga BOCES, Citi Sparks, Onondaga-Cortland BOCES, and Northeastern Regional Information Center.
"The Virtual Academy Art Show came from the budding consortium between the virtual schools across the state,” said eAcademy Principal Lindsey Meyers. “With there being so few programs as unique as our E1B eAcademy, we have a blank canvas and can invent what virtual schools and experiences look like. eAcademy is partnering with these other similar programs to provide new and valuable opportunities for our students and families, not only through this art show, but through collaboration in content areas and future professional development opportunities."
This event provided a platform for students to showcase their artistic creations in a virtual setting. The art show featured a diverse array of work, including paintings, drawings, digital art, and photography, reflecting the wide-range of talents and perspectives of the students.
"Virtual teaching and virtual learning are still somewhat uncharted lands - supervising and serving as the principal of such programs is an even more unique experience,” Meyers continued. “Watching the exploration and growth of our students and teachers through events such as this is inspiring and affirming as the principal and further validates what eAcademy is all about."
