Innovation Comes to Life at the 3rd Annual IMPACT Expo
The 3rd Annual IMPACT Expo hosted 275 middle and high school students from eleven local districts for a one-day conference at Buffalo State University. This event marked the end of a year-long class aimed at teaching students to use technology and creativity to solve real-world problems.
Attendees explored over 125 poster presentations on various topics such as sport science, animal welfare, mental health, education, and environmentalism. The IMPACT Expo included more than a dozen sessions run by students for their peers, as well as workshops from the Burchfield Penney Art Center, Just Buffalo Literacy Center, and Frank Lloyd Wright’s Martin House. A participating student commented, “It was amazing to see how my peers created amazing projects that really meant something. It show how truly creative they are and I am honored that I was able to watch this all happen.”
The event featured a keynote address from the winners of the first-ever Students to Start-Ups competition. The first-place winners from Pets and Found shared how they started their business and won the competition. Armaan Jain, the People’s Choice winner from the fashion line Bhai, talked about his journey to becoming a successful young entrepreneur.
"We are thrilled to see these young minds come together to share their innovative ideas and hard work," said Erie 1 BOCES coordinator Melanie Kitchen.
