SkillsUSA winnersFour Erie 1 BOCES Health Careers students won first place in the Health Knowledge Bowl competition at the 2017 New York State SkillsUSA competition. The team, made up of two juniors and two seniors, all attend the Health Careers program at Potter Career & Technical Center.

Abdullah Ahmed of Lackawanna and Makayla Urbanczyk of Hamburg along with Alexandra Dickson, and Ashley Incorvaia, both of Frontier High School, got together and decided they wanted to compete as a team in the regional SkillsUSA competition. After placing first at the regional competition at Alfred State, they advanced to the state competition, which they also won. In both the regional and state competitions, the Potter team competed against nearly 20 other teams of four students.

“I’m so very proud of them and this is quite an achievement on their part,” said Michelle Montaldi, their teacher.
