Alternative High School
This program offers students in grades 9-12 Photo of Student and Teacherthe opportunity to work towards earning their high school diploma in an alternative educational setting. Students are able to pursue high school credits in small classes that focus on individual strengths and skills. The focus is on academics with a strong emphasis on building positive social skills. 

Students enrolled in Alternative Education have the opportunity to participate in an Erie 1 BOCES Career and Technical program at either Harkness or KenTon. 

**Students must be referred by their home school district.
MiddleTech Academy
A full day educational program for academically and socially at-risk 7th and 8th grade students that incorporates Career and Technical Education as part of a project-based curriculum.

Out of School Suspension

The Out of School Suspension Program provides full day instruction for high school students who have been suspended from school.  Erie 1 BOCES offers both short term and long term suspension programs for students.  Students suspended for one to five days by their home school have the opportunity to attend the short term program, and students suspended six days or more have the opportunity to attend the long term program.  Both programs are offered at the Northtowns Academy location and the E1B Learning Center location.  **Students must be referred by their home school.

Instruction in each of the core content areas is provided by certified teachers. A guidance counselor provides student support.

Teen Parenting
Students who are either pregnant or parenting are able to work towards earning their high school credits in an alternative setting. These students attend a daily parenting class and are fully integrated into the Alternative High School program. Seminars that focus on a variety of relevant topics are offered throughout the year.
