Erie 1 BOCES' 18-19 Budget Approved

Erie 1 BOCES’ 2018-2019 administrative budget was unanimously approved on April 17. Nineteen school district boards from Erie County met and voted on the budget during a special session. In addition, Edward Cavan was reelected to the Erie 1 BOCES’ board of education for his eighth term. Newly elected to Erie 1 BOCES’ board was Renee Wilson, a longstanding board member with Cheektowaga Central School District.

Wilson will fill the position currently held by Judith Katz. Following 40 years of distinguished service on Erie 1 BOCES’ board of education, Katz will retire from the board.

“Words cannot express our gratitude for Mrs. Katz’s unwavering commitment to our region’s educational success,” said District Superintendent Lynn Fusco. “A pillar of the community, she led selflessly and championed student-centric decision making.”

Wilson, who is also active with Erie County Association of School Boards and is the former president of Cheektowaga’s Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA), will assume Katz’s seat on July 11, 2018.
